DESCRIPTION
DAMAESTER® suture is synthetic, non-absorbable sterile surgical suture, composed of fine filaments of polyethylene terephthalate (polyester). It is braided, silicone coated, dyed or undyed sutures.
DAMAESTER® suture has execellent strength properties, and it is Coated with Silicone to provide for smoother and better handling
DAMAESTER® suture complies with the requirements of the United States pharmacopoeia U.S.P. and European pharmacopoeia Ph. Eur. and European Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC.
INDICATIONS
DAMAESTER® suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic and cardiovascular procedures.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
DAMAESTER® suture should not be used where permanant retention of tensile strenght is required as in fixation of intraocular lenses or synthetic vascular grafts, due to gradual loss of tensile strength which may occur over prolonged periods in vivo.
WARNINGS
Users should be familiar with surgical procedures and techniques involving non-absorbable sutures before employing DAMAESTER® suture for wound closure, as risk of wound dehiscence may vary with the site of application and the suture material used.
As with any foreign body, prolonged contact of any suture with salt solutions, such as those found in the urinary or biliary tracts may result in calculus formation. Acceptable surgical practice should be followed for the management of contaminated or infected wounds.
Discard opened packages and unused sutures.
Do not re-use.
Do not re-sterilize.
